Yesterday was a day of relaxed bliss. It was beautiful how it all flowed together, for all involved.
Kiernen got up in the morning with his daddy, and they let me get some much-needed sleep in. While I was catching my z's, they went outside and Kiernen got to ride bikes with three of his friends - all of their two-wheelers.
I got up and was fussing about the kitchen when they came inside, Kiernen all ready for some food and another activity. Kiernen's favourite 12-year-old, E, wandered in about then and stayed and played with Kiernen for a couple of hours at least, while I managed to get an entire case of beefsteak tomatoes processed, marinated, and in the dehydrator.
When E left, Daddy and Kiernen read some books and played with some trains, until Kiernen grew restless and wanted another activity. I asked him if he'd like to go out into the atriums and look for friends, and he did, so off we went. We happened to find one, M, who we invited to play on the trampoline with us. He and his Mama came and joined us on the trampoline, in the perfect Spring weather (yes, I know it's August, but it WAS perfect Spring weather). The boys jumped and played and we lazed about on the trampoline, B and I talking nutrition and food and other things that make us happy.
When we were ready to go in, we all went to our house to hang out and play. Another neighbour invited us to go to the beach with him and his son later in the day, and we invited M and B to join us, as well. We were planning to leave around 5, but had eating and much dawdling to do, so really ended up leaving at 7. We took back roads and got to see parts of our area we'd never seen - it turns out we live near some really gorgeous farmland, if you know where to look. Eventually, after installing a starter in and acquiring another passenger van, we made it to the beach, just as the sun began to set.
The boys threw rocks in the water and waded in themselves, we chatted, we enjoyed a perfect end to a perfect day - it was beautiful and delicious and full of life and love.
On the way home, we hit the organic grocery store for Larabars and other treats to snack on as we made our way back.
A day of bliss. Delicious, delightful, delectable.
